Punishment - 2009/08/17 17:03 Ok so my daughter started 5th grade this year. She found out who her teacher was and my daughter was so unpest. She knew the teacher as a mean teacher. She proceeded to tell me about the check-marks. "Mommy if you get 2 check-marks then you get detention." I laughed. We always got 3 check marks from Mrs. Baird. I told her if she was good then there wouldn't be a problem.
Then I started to think, you know I just talked alot, I was good, I just talked alot.
Does anyone remember any other punishment you got in gradeschool or middle school?

Re:Punishment - 2009/08/20 09:13 Isn't it funny to hear what our kids think is just the most horrible thing EVER? Were we ever that dramatic?

Detention was all it took to straighten me up in elementary school. And in Jr. High for that matter, as far as I can remember. I didn't even get detention till my Sr. year in high school.

And Robyn, you didn't talk any more than the rest of us I don't think...

Re:Punishment - 2009/08/20 20:19 I remember in HS I skipped mrs Kroekers class cuz she was having it in the elementary gym for a program. I got busted my Mrs Dooley. I ended up getting in school suspension. That sucked.

Re:Punishment - 2009/08/21 09:26 hahaha!! I never got ISS. I was always smart enough to skip completely out of school when I skipped. Which believe it or not wasn't very often!! Kory was too sick my senior year, so I didn't have many days to waste. I did skip some, but not much at all. I did have saturday school a time or three or four...lol That sucked major. Given I was usually hungover. *sigh* What can I say? When you only date guys older, and you've already been married and divorced you know how to party. lmao Or somethin' like that. Hell Robyn, you know how it was!! haha You were at a few of those parties. *snicker*

I never really got in much trouble in high school. I DO remember getting into it with a sub once though. And I was ALWAYS nice to subs!! But this one decided she was gonna punish the whole band for something that they'd done the day before, and like 8 of us were gone the day before. A bunch for academic contest, and me cause I had a wisdom tooth causing me trouble. Well, she insisted that we take the punishment too, and we refused. We walked out of class. Mr Inman told us we had to apologize to her and all would be forgiven. I refused. I told him point-blank it'd be a cold day in hell I was punished for something I wasn't there for. If I'd done it, I'd take the punishment. I had an excused absence and that was that. He tried to argue with me but when I threatened to bring my dad up to verify that I WAS IN FACT SICK, and told him to ask a few teachers if my dad would lie for me...he did. He asked. Then he called me in and said he didn't need to talk to him, and that I was excused from it all. It was then I learned that I could stand up to him and as long as I was in the right, I'd be ok. A huge lesson for a mouse like me to learn, honestly. Course, this was the same man who told me I should go to Pryor cause I was a bad influence on Chouteau kids. WTF ever!! Me and that man hooked horns SEVERAL times that year. Apparently having your baby in the ER all night long isn't a good enough excuse to miss school the next day, even when you have proof of when you got there and when you left!! He was such a jerk.

Re:Punishment - 2009/08/21 16:58 Yeah, absolutism type personalities are hard folks to reason with. And all they tend to do is make you mad, too.
That band situation..... I would not have reacted well to that either. I was a lot more combative then. Yeah, I think I'd have been leading that revolt.

Everyone ready for Fall? I am not so much. Even when it's 105 degrees outside, it's always in the back of my mind that winter is coming and I'll be stuck indoors for 6 months. We didn't get nearly enough boating in this summer either.

I actually get mad at the trees when I see the first leaves fall. 'Cowards! Don't give up yet!'

Fall is almost here the ragweed is going and the hayfever is about to begin..aww fall. HATE IT!
My kids are liking school so far Taylor tells me everyday who got check marks, lol.
Brandy I would have used my kid as an excuse to get out of everything in HS. Crap I use them now to get out of work.
