Chad A. Felts, Pryor, was arrested Sunday after he drove up pulling a stolen trailer while officers were serving a search warrant at his house.

Felts was arrested and booked into the Mayes County jail on complaints of knowingly concealing stolen property and possession of a firearm while in commission of a felony.

A bond hearing was held Monday at

2:30 p.m., and he was released by 4 p.m. on a $100,000 bond. Charges have yet to be filed due to the large amount of paperwork included in the case, said Investigator Albert McKee.

Investigators began looking into Felts after he was identified in video surveillance footage from a trailer theft in Chouteau Hills.

On Saturday, McKee and officers with the Pryor Police Department recovered two four wheelers and one golf cart Felts left at a residence in Pryor.

Working with Pryor and Chouteau, McKee obtained a search warrant for Felts’ residence in Lakeland. Officers found two more golf carts there. While officers were serving the search warrant, Felts drove up pulling a trailer which had been stolen near Strang Bridge.

“As luck would have it,” said McKee, Felts lives on a dead end road and didn’t have time to turn around before officers spotted him.

Charges are expected later this week.

From the volume of thefts I've heard about I would bet there are more thieves targetting trailers, but maybe this guy will turn in some others and give the police some pointers on where they are sold, etc.

Re:TRAILER THIEF CAUGHT - 2009/05/16 02:27 LOL Yea, the name sounded familiar too. Apparently he comes from a really good family and his parents are just sick about it all. I have no idea, that's just rumor. I don't know him. *shrug* I just hope they nail is butt to the wall though. He didn't just steal a trailer from my Dad and Grandma. They stole my Grandmother's sense of safety in her own house. THAT gets seriously on my bad side. She's been through enough.

Re:TRAILER THIEF CAUGHT - 2009/05/18 07:01 I haven't heard anything, but the police here in Chouteau have been by a few times to see if a certain trailer here and there was theirs, so I imagine once they get all their ducks in a row they'll be by. We're trying to get it through Grandma's head that they caught the guy, but for some reason she's not retaining the information. We keep having to remind her.

Now she's convinced that the mailman is trying to buy their house, and has been trying to talk her into it for four or five years now. All because he *gasp!* brought her a card from him and his wife last week, telling her that they hoped she was having a nice day, because they see her on the porch all the time. I watched him pull up to the driveway, get out of the truck, walk up to the porch and hand her the card, smile at her, tip his hat, and get back in his truck and leave. Yet she's convinced he tried to talk her into selling the house. Ah well...if paranoia keeps her from signing everything that's put in front of her, I'll take the aggravation I guess. lol
