Re:Who'll Stop the Rain? - 2009/05/02 08:43
These pics are of "Grossman Bridge" about a half mile from my house. http://www.ourpatchwork.com/Flood2009/
I've NEVER seen water over that bridge. I've seen the water up to the bottom of it, but never ever over it. And this is WAY over it. Thank God the guy in these pics decided it wasn't worth risking driving into it. About 5 feet from where he is in the pics, the road dips pretty severely, and he would have been swept away very quickly. In fact, there's half a tree floating by in a couple of the pics, right around where the road gets really low. My ex told me it almost flooded his sister's house. And the school sent the kids home early cause the building either flooded or the roof was leaking. But they sent all three of my older kids home, and they're all three in different buildings. It's been bad. And lovely of lovelies, we have two more days of it coming our way. THANK GOD I don't live in my old house. Cause the water was up to the bottom of the deck on the front of the old house. And that's a good 4 1/2 feet up. It's NEVER flooded like that over there. Yea, the yard floods with about 5 inches of water every time it rains real hard, but it's NEVER been THAT high.
One high point though, my ex couldn't get back to his house tonight, so he didn't take the kids for the weekend. So I get to keep them and spend lots of extra time with them. YAY!!!! I think we're gonna go play in the rain tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be warmer than today. LOL I think I'm gonna put on a big pot of beans for dinner, then we're all gonna go out and get wet. Some of my fondest memories were of playing in the rain when I was a kiddo...
