How is the economy treating you? - 2009/01/13 00:24 We're living in some scary times. Just wondering how everyone is weathering the economic storms these days?

Re:How is the economy treating you? - 2009/01/13 20:25 We're actually doing ok. I'd appreciate if the price of food would go down, but otherwise we're doing ok. The price of gas being low is helping IMMENSELY. It's SO nice to be able to get by on $30 worth of gas as opposed to $130 (or more). So, overall, it hasn't bothered us much. But we don't have any credit cards, and we don't have any loans other than my van payment. So that helps a lot.

Re:How is the economy treating you? - 2009/01/14 17:34 well so far so good but i don't want to jinx it. gas prices have helped and having secure jobs is nice too. both my brother and brother-in-law had to change job due to down sizing. luckily they were kinda high up so moving jobs was easier.
I'm with Brandy on the cost of groceries. I remember going to the store and getting all we need and more for about 150$ yesterday i went got the normal stuff and it came to 240$ that's a big jump. I guess if they don't get you one way they get you the other.

Re:How is the economy treating you? - 2009/01/16 17:18 Where I am right now, things aren't costing me much out of my pocket. I have food provided and cooked for me. I don't have to pay for gas, even though my truck uses a lot. I have a rent free place to stay. So, over here, things financially aren't too bad. At home, things are a little better for my wife and kids. Gas being down really helps, although it helps more now that only one of our two cars is being driven on a regular basis. Food is still expensive, even on base, but without me there, they don't go through as much. So, all in all, we are making it.
