Tips to Lighten Up? - 2008/04/28 19:49 No, I don't need stress relief tips. I'm an expert at that!

But I do need some weight loss tips. I need to drop 15 pounds, but I'd like to lose 20.

Running is a killer on my knees, ankles and feet, and I try to save those joints for tennis once or twice a week. But I'm game for anything else.
I eat better than I ever have, I never ate a salad in my life before this Spring. I was having 1 - 2 Colas per day. This week I'm trying to drink just iced tea.
I wonder if situps/crunches actually trim the old midesction or not?
Anyway, it's time to draw the line. I'm not buying any new pants!

Anyone got any effective tips?

Pregancy worked good for Michelle for the first few weeks, but I can't do that.

Re:Tips to Lighten Up? - 2008/04/29 02:59 The Dr told me that I should get my heart rate up for 30 minutes every day. And she added that screaming at my teenage son doesn't count. So I'm out of ideas.

Re:Tips to Lighten Up? - 2008/04/29 04:23 ok, I went to prison boot camp... yea, i know, sounds dumb, but I got three years off. Anyhow, as for situps and crunches, YES they do tighten up the midsection, unfortunately, you have to do like a million of them before you see the results. Running is great, but you said it tears up your knees... how bout biking? that's what I do here in Colorado to keep in shape, find some hills and start riding!

Re:Tips to Lighten Up? - 2008/04/29 15:54 I do have to say my cousin lost a LOT of weight cycling. But you can't just exercise. Changing the way you eat has to be part of it (which is where I get all messed up haha). I've been told, and have noticed it to a small degree that once you get in better shape you don't crave all the bad for you foods you did before. I know I crave more sweets and junk food right now, since I'm still heavy from having Abby, than I ever did before. I don't know if it's my age, or that I'm a stay-at-home Mom and all the junk is easily accessible. I KNOW I need to and HAVE to change my diet. And I need to do it soon.

Re:Tips to Lighten Up? - 2008/04/29 19:53 I do like to cycle a lot. I used to ride the 4 miles around our section when I was younger pretty often. I rode it every day some summers. But now it's hard to face that gravel road. If they ever pave it I know I will bike more. But then the people that drive 60 on the gravel will drive 80+ on the pavement and that will be an added danger. Especially with two little tagalong girls.

It's also hard to pull out the bike with my ATV sitting beside it so inviting!

If I was rich I'd just play paintball once or twice a week. That is an exhausting sport!
