Chouteau Area Public ATV Trails - 2008/03/03 23:19 Does anybody know a good (and legal) place to go ride ATVs around Chouteau? I know guys used to ride around GRDA but I don't think you're supposed to. It needs to be a fairly long trail to be worth the effort. I mean, more than just a dirt circle anyway. My father in law and myself are more into exploring and checking out new terrain rather than jumping, hotdogging, etc.

Also, if anyone might be interested in my 2006 Honda Rancher 350 ES, please message me. It's in great shape. I just can't get used to the push button shift. I want to get a 2007 or 08 model but with a foot shift.

Re:Chouteau Area Public ATV Trails - 2008/03/05 12:16 No GRDA for sure. I know some of them are still riding in Chouteau Hills though.

Re:Chouteau Area Public ATV Trails - 2008/03/19 15:35 I found out from a GRDA contact that there is a public riding area on the Boatman road (West) side of the Kerr dam near Locust Grove.
My father in law and I went over there last Friday and had a blast. There are miles of trails back there. You can almost get lost. There is a good mix of terrain for whatever type of riding you are into.

We found a 4x4 pickup stuck in a mudhole. No one was around. It had been left for who knows how many days. It may be there still if they didn't recover it before the storms.

Anyway, it's legal to ride there if anyone is looking for some trails. There is also an area by the Pensacola dam we may try soon.

The terrain there can be challenging. Based on a couple of near mishaps I may have to rethink my philosophy of not wearing a helmet.

There will probably be another expedition out that way soon. There's just a lot of neat trails out there.

If anyone wants to join our ATV gang, let me know. The only qualification (other than an ATV) is you have to look tough in Biker garb. As an example, here's a pic of me and my father in law taken at Easter last year....
