Re:Chouteau Area Public ATV Trails - 2008/03/20 18:06 ROTFLMAO! Does your father-in-law know you posted that picture Chad? I'm not sure he'd be all that impressed with you letting out his secret.

Great pics though! It looks like you had a lot of fun! I didn't know that they were letting people ATV out over in there now. They used to be so anal about people NOT getting off over in there...good to know they're making use of that land now.

Re:Chouteau Area Public ATV Trails - 2008/03/21 04:20 I have to confess....that's not really us in that picture. But that's pretty much what we look like. Pretty much. I may complete my look with a Kaiser helmet, complete with a spike on top.

I know people ride places around here that they aren't supposed to. So I wanted to know about any legal places and checked with someone at GRDA.
Yes, the area behind Kerr dam on the Boatman side is marked for ATV use by GRDA. There's a sign up there with some safety rules, etc. Also an area by the Pensacola dam is set aside, but we haven't been there yet.
I guess for anyone into horseback riding you could go there as well. I know my dad was interested in that. I'll stick to my Honda. It's never thrown me.

It amazes me that I never knew about this area in 20 years of riding ATVs. It was in our own backyard practically. I have friends in Tulsa that drive an hour to ride somewhere, or even overnight to the Salt Flats in Eastern OK. I am lucky enough to have a lot of pasture area and roads at home before I even need to load up and go somewhere else.

I'd like to ride around behind Chouteau Hills but I think that's one of the 'Access Denied' areas.
