Beware: New Police Officer. - 2008/01/30 15:18 There's a new officer in town and he doesn't believe in warnings. The rumor is he's given 12 tickets in 2 days. Really watch out around the school in the mornings and afternoons.

My wife got zapped for 30 in a 20 on her way to the donut shop. She thought it was 25mph in the area coming into town from the West on Harrison St. That was a $94 donut!

I told her to slow it down because this is Chouteau, the only people allowed to drive as fast as they want are truckers on the highway and tractors on the streets.

If she keeps getting tickets maybe I'll put a big orange triangle on her car!

Thus ends my public service announcement.

Re:Beware: New Police Officer. - 2008/01/30 20:47 I've noticed a stronger police presence around school both before and after. And I've also noticed that they don't pull any punches about pulling people over. They also don't seem to have any trouble blocking traffic TO pull someone over. But y'know, if it keeps people from speeding by the school, I guess I can't complain. *shrug* But every time I see them (EVERY MORNING!!) I'm thankful I don't speed. lol

Re:Beware: New Police Officer. - 2008/01/31 19:52 they were talking about him up at school this morning. Apparently he gives tickets to everybody he pulls over. It's got the whole area just stunned. And he's there EVERY MORNING. And nearly every morning he's got someone pulled over every time I go by. It's a little strange in our little town...

Re:Beware: New Police Officer. - 2008/02/01 05:13 Yeah, quite a little revenue maker we've got on our hands. It's out of place for sure.

Hey, I'm not too bitter, I've nagged my wife for years to obey the signs. Just follow the rules and you've got no worries. In theory.

But it appears this gentleman is taking 'Fife-ism' to a new level. He also was a little curt with Michelle when she turned around to pick up the sippy cup our daughter dropped. Like a round pregnant woman was going for an uzi or something! So much for State employees sticking together!

I know most of our town officers and they are great guys, so I don't know what this fella's story is. But there is a point where common sense needs to be applied over the coldest letter of the law. Write a warning now and then. It's disheartening when some rookie treats our small town like it's Dallas or LA. You're going to encounter the same folks over and over, at ball games and in stores, at gas stations, etc. It pays to get along and not behave like the Gestapo, enforcing your absolute authority over everyone who crosses your path just to make a reputation for yourself at work.

That's for IT guys like me to do ; )

Re:Beware: New Police Officer. - 2008/02/02 04:04 i have me an inside man that told me they have talked to that officer about being so quick with the tickets but he is just gunho! I think its because he's from locust and he just don't like chouteauians. i am all for him getting people around the school if they speed but the rest of the town.....warnings are nice..........
