Anyone else sign the Petition? - 2007/06/19 20:08
The public consensus is that it will accomplish nothing or even 'annoy' the Department of Transportation enough to actually postpone the work.
Can you really 'annoy' a State agency? And can they get sleepy or sad?
If I make no sense to you, there are signs all over Chouteau that say 'Sign Petition Here'. The petition states it's intent is to hasten the already approved addition of a turn lane down hwy 69 through Chouteau. I don't know if that means widening the road or just sacrificing a lane of traffic.
I personally think lowering the speed limit to 35mph, like Pryor, and actually enforcing it would be a good way to save lives and lessen or prevent severe accidents. I've been told the Police can't pull over semis because there is no place to stop them, but I say there's plenty of shoulder area right outside of town. Maybe it's more complicated than that, I dunno.
What does town Mayor pay, anyway??
