You're not my mother. - 2007/05/09 14:52 If you listened to WWLS this morning you know what I'm talking about.

The way I see it....my obligation on Mother's Day is to my own mother. Not for every mother in my family, or every mother that I know.

Having said that, rest assured I will facilitate my 6 month old daughter getting my wife a Mother's Day gift. But, my wife specifically shouldn't expect anything from me because she's not my mother.

Now I admit to being rather cheap, but does anyone else agree with me on this?

What are your thoughts??

Re:You're not my mother. - 2007/05/09 19:18 Oh, my gosh, you are sooooooo wrong!!!! You should totally honor the mother of your children!!!!! Dude, did you watch her give birth? Excuse me, but you try having a bowling ball come out your nether region!!!! I think she deserves more than diamonds here! She puked her guts up for how long while pregnant, then GAVE BIRTH, had stitches in the nether region, and went through countless sleepless nights taking care of YOUR child! AHem, she deserves a very nice card, some jewelry, and a day at the spa. Oh, and flowers would be nice, too.
Don't even try to get by on that slimy excuse!

You should be ashamed of yourself!

Chad, Chad, Chad.... you are going to be in so much trouble with your wife!

Re:You're not my mother. - 2007/05/09 20:20 Paul, this is exactly what NOT to say after you have kids! Take notes! Don't make this mistake!

Re:You're not my mother. - 2007/05/09 20:33 I've been saying the same thing for years!!!!! Mother's day is for "mothers", not for "the mother of my children" or "want to be mothers" or "soon to be mothers" or "I wish I was a mother" or any other kind of "mothers!".

Mothers are very special. I am and always will be a "momma's boy". As fathers, we should encourage our kids to "do something special for mom" but flowers?? diamonds?? a day at the spa?? C'mon now..........

If this is really the case, Father's day is coming up and I sure would like a new Porsche, a weekend trip to Las Vegas with my buddies, and a day at the spa! (Men need pampered too!)

Re:You're not my mother. - 2007/05/09 21:02 SUCCESS!!! Stirring things up is one of my all-time favorite hobbies!

I %100 agree that motherhood is a lot of blood, sweat, tears (and puke) and she should be rewarded richly. Hence I will encourage my child to express her gratitude to her mother and I will help her find things to demonstrate her appreciation for this Holiday, but...

Bell is right. Let's start the chant, boys!

'You're not my Mother! You're not my Mother! Mother's Day; go away! You're not my Mother!'

I have only one mother and that's who this Holiday is for, in my mind.
I forgive you Sarah, because you are prego and are very emotional right now. You're thinking is doubtlessly impaired.

I will give Michelle her choice of JL's, Dutch Pantry, or the always delicious Del Rio on Mother's Day. But it's our kid who is treating, she just doesn't have an allowance yet to garnish. I may also use Wordpad to print 'something really nice, clark!'

Stir stir stir stir!

Re:You're not my mother. - 2007/05/09 22:34 You boys make me so mad! I do pamper my husband! He just got a Chevy Tahoe and a Seiko watch and he will also get something nice for Father's Day from ME!

Chad, I may be prego, but my thinking about you guys is very clear! & I can't wait for you to get clubbed by your wife for your being so foolish!

Brandon, yeah, diamonds would be most appropriate! Obviously you don't know what it takes to be a mom!

Come on you guys! You've really got to be kidding me! I bet even your MOM taught you better than that! So if you want to honor YOUR mom, then also honor your wife! Okay, so maybe diamonds, flowers and a day at the spa are over the top but at least one of those with a card would be nice! What does it hurt anyway?

Chad, you trouble-maker!
